Barbara Ann Kipfer


Archaeology Wordsmith is run by Dr. Barbara Ann Kipfer, who has a PhD in Archaeology from Greenwich University, where her doctoral dissertation was a 7,000-headword Encyclopedic Dictionary of Archaeology and which was published by Springer. Dr. Kipfer has also written The Archaeologist's Fieldwork Companion and Dictionary of Artifacts for Wiley-Blackwell Publishing. She is also a Registered Professional Archaeologist.
Dr. Kipfer also has an MPhil and PhD in linguistics, has worked as a lexicographer for 30 years, and is the author of more than 40 books. Dr. Kipfer has extremely strong skills in writing and linguistics, computer applications, and research and data compilation over the full range of archaeological terminology and theory.
