More than 30 million of us take antidepressants, including one in seven women (one in four women of reproductive age). But Dr. Kelly Brogan, who studied Cognitive Neuroscience at MIT before receiving her M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College, says depression and anxiety are symptoms, not brain disorders, and they can be cured through simple lifestyle interventions—not antidepressants. Dr. Brogan cites irrefutable evidence buried in the medical literature that depression is a grossly misdiagnosed and mistreated condition, especially among women, and that antidepressants have the potential to irreversibly disable the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
