Peter Govan
Peter Govan is an Edinburgh Scotland based full time musician, composer, concert performer and international workshop facilitator of freeing the natural singing voice through trusting in the body to make sound over the analytical mind. Peter travels widely to share his extensive experience in teaching voice and music.
The purpose of Peter's music is to carry the listener in a soaring journey to a deeper connection with spirit and the divine through the sacred and gentle nature of Peter's voice weaving with the Indian Harmonium. Through his workshops, Peter's aim is to enable participants to build a working and evolving relationship with their body voice as a means of authentic self expression through toning, chanting and song.
Peter has also taught Harmonic Overtone Singing Workshops locally and internationally for 15 years with a focus of vocal self discovery through the body; individually and as a group, using Harmonium, Tibetan singing bowls, bells and wind gongs, toning, sacred chanting, music improvisation and world music.
Peter's influences in his music, lie in the 4 billion year old mountains of Sutherland Scotland, the legends of the Sea and the Selkie Seal people, the poetry and songs of Robert Burns and the 15th century poet Rumi.
